Harley-Davidson To Spend Half-Million Dollars in 2018 To Win Back The Flat Track Racing Crown From Indian. Harley-Davidson was dealt a stunning upset in 2017 after Indian Motorcycle returned to the circuit following a more-than-60-year absence. With the Scout FTR750 bike, Indian got 14 total wins, 37 podium appearances, and six podium sweeps. In fact, Indian racer Jared Mees alone set a single-season record of 17 podium appearances. The humiliating defeat is undoubtedly why Harley-Davidson, one of the official partners of American Flat Track, recently announced it was posting $562,500 for its 2018 American Flat Track contingency program, the largest contingency ever put up in the 65-year history of flat-track racing. To put that in perspective, two years ago, the bike maker’s entire program was only $96,000.

American Flat Track. Nearly $2 Million In Contingency Posted For 2018 Season. On the heels of record-breaking contingency postings from Harley-Davidson and Indian Motorcycle (two of the biggest in flat track history), American Flat Track is nearing the $2 million mark in rider contingency, with generous postings from long-time series partners and supporters of the sport: Dunlop Motorcycle Tires, Sunoco, Arai Helmet, S&S Cycle, Husqvarna Motorcycles, American Honda, Yamaha Motor Corp., Kawasaki Motor Corp. and more coming soon.

Joke Of The Week

A widowed Jewish lady, still in very good shape, was sunbathing on a totally deserted beach near Tel  Aviv.
She looked up and noticed that a man her age, also in good shape, had walked up, placed his blanket on the sand near hers and began reading a book.

Smiling, she attempted to strike up a conversation with him. “How are you today?” “Fine, thank you,” he responded, and turned back to his book. “I love the beach. Do you come here often?” she asked. “First time since my wife passed away 2 years ago,” he replied and turned back to his book.

“I’m sorry to hear that. My husband passed away three years ago and it is very lonely,” she countered. ”Do you live around here?” she asked. “Yes, I live over in Haifa,” he answered, and again he resumed reading.
Trying to find a topic of common interest, she persisted, “Do you like pussy cats?”

With that, the man dropped his book, came over to her blanket, tore off her swimsuit and gave her the most passionate lovemaking of her life. When the cloud of sand began to settle, she gasped and asked the man, “How did you know that was what I wanted?”

The man replied, “How did you know my name was Katz?”

Sharp Custom Triumph Thruxton With A Wealth Of High Quality Details

As a factory model, it’s very difficult to compete with the Triumph Thruxton’s beautiful aggressive styling and Café Racer looks. As a matter of fact the Thruxton is originally a limited edition production-class racer hand-built in 1965 by the Triumph factory race shop for homologation purposes and entered into British endurance racing by local agents. A modern successor was announced in 2004 (the air-cooled Thruxton 900), and again in 2016 (two 1200cc water-cooled models, the Triumph Thruxton and Triumph Thruxton R.)

Hallmark Café racer modifications almost always include a rear set of footrests, a small flyscreen, analogue instruments, reverse-cone exhaust silencers and a seat cowl. But it’s not necessarily enough to push a sport street bike to a new level. Custom shop will remind you that the “Devil is in the details” and that this resurrected 2007 Triumph Thruxton was a bastard to rebuild, all about intricate details, unique materials and one bloody thing after another…But no pain no gain, right?

As usual for a full blown custom factory bike, the Thruxtom was disassembled, then the stock frame was de-lugged with all welds being smoothed out. Rear tubes were bent for a completely new rear section. To unleash adrenaline, engine work includes the oil cooler being removed for a gain of weight, a remapped fueling program helped by velocity stacks featuring a brushed outer and mirror polished interior surface with etched brass grills and DMOL logo inlays. For aesthetic reasons, engine covers are powder coated with the sprocket cage featuring solid brass grills and an engraved name plate. Engine is finished in satin and flat black. Harley-Davidson Trying To Trademark “Harley Bronx”. Urban bikers are one of the priority targets for all motorcycle manufacturers selling mid-weight models and the Bronx name seems perfect to conjure the tough urban jungle, as much when selling motorcycles, custom parts or a clothing line.
