Fat Max. Post-Apocaliptic Custom Building.

You nay not like theme bikes but belong to those who are interested by the violent, post apocalyptic world as described in the Mad Max movie (1979), giving rise to three sequels, Mad Max 2 (1981), Beyond Thunderdome (1985), and Fury Road (2015). The orginal  distopian action Mad Max movie, and all series, got a cult following among many, including bikers, maybe in great part because of the motorcycles appearing in it (14 were Kawasaki KX1000 donated by a local Kawasaki dealer near Melbourne, Australia where the movie was shot, then modified in a custom shop)

The big surprise for me, and probably for you, is that when I was ed by Chris Bienkiewicz owner of custom shop and of GOC Harley-Davidson Rzeszów, the largest H-D dealership in the Central-Eastern Europe, I learned – that Fat Max was built from a brand new 2018 Harley Fat Bob 114″ – that this project was created to represent Game Cycles in the competition “Battle of the Kings” organized each year by Milwaukee. Why not? The voting for each competitor bike being done online by individuals, you never know…

In the Mad Max movies, car and motorcycles were built from parts that could be found in the post-apocalyptic world, or more often created from available scrap metal. Although Fat Max is the embodiment of the chaos, misery and violence espressed in all Mad Max films, maintained the reliable functionality of the factory Harley-Davidson motorcycle. As mentioned in the “Battle Of The Kings” competition the shop had to use only genuine H-D parts, leading it to heavily modify them as they belong to the movie, with altering their original functionality. The 2018 factory Fat Bob is born with tarmac-eating traction delivered by Milwaukee-Eight® engine power, inverted forks and fat tires with an aggressive tread pattern and a new suspension with inverted forks and external rear preload adjustment. Evidently, they are extremely important features to absolutely preserve in an official H-D competition.

Some body and parts modifications to be noticed: – a front louvered frame cover to protect the engine from rocks etc. – special handlebars tp protect hands from obstacles like branches and from extreme temperature – a windshield that you can adjust for position and height – a saddlebag made from a fuel canister. Fat Max is also using a Screamin’ Eagle Performance Parts, such as: exhaust system, air filter and Super Tuner. HD brass covers for an “antique look:. Leather seat by KM leather design. Airbrush by Moto-Paint. .

That is not a piece of crap and really if you have nothing good to say.. don’t say anything.
I am not into that style but appreciate it for what it is.
Have a 2008 FB and I have to replace her soon but cannot say I like what HD has done to that line of bikes… they don’t like us old time bikers no more

My god that’s ugly. If I ever showed up on that with the old school crowd I run with I would never hear the end of it LOL

I think they went overboard with yet another theme bike. I am saddened by how many bikes I see here with 100’s of hours of excellent craftsmanship on a poor plan. About the only thing needed to make the new Fat Bob look good is shooting out the headlamp with a 12ga. and looking for an appropriate diameter(s) single or dual round one(s). I would have said baseball bat, but this bike has a baseball bat guard over it’s stock Bender headlamp.

I like it, in a post apocalyptic kinda way. Funny video too. The rider forgot the most important thing though…It’s all about the juice…
