The Two Best American Flat Track Racing Teams Clash In Daytona. Indian Won The First Round Against Harley-Davidson.

On Thursday evening Match 16, the season-opening Daytona TT flat track races kicked off the 2017 season and featured the return, after a 64-year hiatus, of Indian Motorcycle against Harley-Davidson.

Around the all-new Daytona TT track designed by 7 times AMA Grand National Champion Chris Carr built inside the International Speedway, crowds were excited at the idea of witnessing the start of a new era of Flat Track Racing.

The series boasts two diverse and highly-competitive classes and is headlined by powerful, twin-cylinder motorcycles in the AFT Twins Class, with spirited single-cylinder machines battling it out in AFT Singles. Jared Mees and Bryan Smith of Indian Motorcycle dominated the Twins Class Semi 1 & 2 (each race is 18 riders and 10 laps) and the Final (18 riders, 25 laps). 3rd place was Henry Wiles on Kawasaki. 4th place was Jacob Johnson on the new Harley-Davidson XG750R. 5th place, was Bronson Bauman on Kawasaki.  See the results below (Photography @ Horst Roesler for JeremySumpter)

Just how big is that executive from Indian? or is it just how small are those racers from Indian?

Executive isn’t that big for scale, but Mees and Smith establish their stature on the back of a bike. Interesting course and promising result for a team that developed the bike in 6 months

And so it begins. Indian will be kicking HDs a** all year. Prediction end of the year standings Indian 1st @ 2nd, HD factory riders maybe 2 of them will be inside top 10.

The Indian bike is so much better than the new Harley.

    Harley was put to shame…

Sorry Kawasaki will be annihilating them

It would be nice if they named the bike on the result sheet.

Harley isn’t what it used to be, and Indian is looking very good.

Indian, actually made in the USA! Harley can’t say that!

It will be interesting to see how they do on a big track. There was no room for passing at Daytona. The Harley’s kept snapping chains. Polaris bought the best riders and has thrown a ton of money into that bike and it shows.

I think the Indian flat tracker is made in Switzerland by SwissAuto

Did I see someone saying that the Harley’s kept breaking (chains)down-hmmm– the apple 🍎 don’t fall far from the tree 🌲 😜 Oh bye the way I was there and the Harley’s weren’t near the front, the chains weren’t the problem!!

Hey Boots! You S…xxxxx P.. ☺☺☺☺! The picture is (of course!!) intended as an analogy to the “TT Track”, so challengingly layed out by Chris Carr!

QUOTE American Flat Track Media Guide: “The Circuits are purpose-built non-oval race courses with a jump, requiering riders to master both right- and left-hand turns and launch high into the air at least once per lap”! END QUOTE.

I was almost certain, that this picture might be misunderstood! Especially after what was “hanging around” elsewhere during Bike Week… Not to mention that my girlfriend would kick (my) ass, if I posted anything else but that ☺☺☺!

(Don’t, PLEASE don’t tell anybody, but if you want it as poster, Cyril may make it available as download…)
