It’s sad that we’ve morphed into a society that would rather have cyber-friends and stare into a little box all day long, than actual friends they can spend quality time with.

Those who think that they have a family of friends because they have Facebook friends are always complete losers in their personal lives. As a matter of facts they are those who have no real friends. They just buy themselves the illusion to exist for others. They build themselves a fake self-esteem to compensate their own failure.

I am not against cyber friends, but I observed that the most addict to FB and the ones the most obsessed with acquiring new “friends” are completely unsatisfied in their personal and professional lives. 95% of what is published on FB is complete junk. Zuckenberg made billions exploiting human misery and loneliness. But I love internet for news and sites like this one. At least I learn a little bit of something every day.

I am on social networks with my true friends and I don’t accept unknown as friends. It’s the way to use them.

Social networking is great if communicating this way is just a small part of your life.

As far as I’m concerned, the best thing about Facebook is that it lets you log in to comment sites like this one without all the rigamarole of creating passwords and ID/email addresses to use. You just click “use Facebook”. Hell of a lot easier. As far as the rest of it goes, it helps you reconnect with people you lost touch with. Only trouble is, some of them are better off in your past.

Both of us are taking a Facebook vacation for a month to weigh our options
& see what the big deal was ?
So far, I miss some interactions, but not many ….
What I don;t miss is the mindless, thoughtless, inconsiderate anonymous crap posted by
“friends” who didn’t even read the crap they were reposting
Saving time & battery life !!!

Totally agree with the sentiments, I use my phone for checking the time (I don’t wear a watch), taking the occasional photo when I forget my camera and making a call every once in a while. I mainly have it for a safety net when riding in case I need to call for help. But then I grew up in a period when phones weren’t glued to your ear.
PS: I have a radio on my bike too and have only turned it on to see if it actually works (it does).
