2013 V-Twin Expo in Cincinnati. New Dates And Show Hours.

After an extensive surveys and input from both attending dealers and exhibitors, in an effort to meet requests, the will extend Saturday and Sunday show hours and will eliminate Monday show. The 13th Annual V-Twin Expo is not open to the public and focuses exclusively on the American v-twin motorcycle market.

Organizers market the event as the only exclusive V-Twin trade show featuring world-class exhibitors that design, produce and or manufacture products specific to the v-twin marketplace. The V-Twin Expo held at the Duke Energy Center in downtown Cincinnati consistently attracts thousands of professionals from the US, Canada and around the world.

The exhibitors and dealers alike stated the need for more time on the show floor Saturday and Sunday. In 2013, the new show hours will be Saturday, February 2 from 8:00AM – 6:00PM and Sunday, February 3 from 9:00AM – 5:00PM. The V-Twin Expo will no longer be open Monday. “We’re fortunate our team has open lines of communication with our exhibitors and dealers. The result of their input has been and continues to be significant in maintaining our on-going success in Cincinnati. For 13 years we’ve partnered with our customers to meet their trade show needs while growing the show overall. We’re excited about what’s to come. New show hours is just the beginning. There’s more news to share in the near future” explained Show Producer Jim Betlach.

    It took them a very long time (4 years) to accept what most vendors requested. Easyriders must have realized that the show being closed on Monday, they will save money for themselves: renting the Duke Energy Convention Center 2 days instead of 3. Does it mean that vendor display fees are going to be lowered by 1/3rd? If not, I guess that the only motivation behind this decision is not to please exhibitors as stated in this press release, but just a way for Easyriders to make more profit.

    Sounds like a thoughtful synopsis.

    The industry needs more insiders, just to keep the bottom stirred and honest.

    the show is not open to the public yet they use a public forum to announce and advertise the show.

    with all the other shows/conventions that are held throughout the states (comic-com, CES, Anime, L.A.car show, Detroit car show, ET.AL.) open their doors to the public because they know that if they kept the public out of them there would be little way to find out what the “public” is really interested in.

    close your doors and be a bunch of elitists and create a good ole boys network, and next thing you know you’ll have a secret handshake and everyone else will become dis-interested and start buying bikes and parts that are made in china or india…

    As a vendor I find this to be great news. I always hated standing around doing little if any business on Monday. The only other thing they should or could change would be to have this show on any weekend other than Superbowl weekend. But that being said it is the best and only real V-Twin show.

    Monday was a waste even during the boom. Very little business transpires over the course of the weekend but I can tell you that after all these years, it is still the best show going. It should also not be open to the public and I thank Easyriders for keeping it that way. As far as a secret handshake…that is silly talk. That event would be a mad house if the public was there.

    Why would we not want a day open to the public ? Don’t you think it would help drive sales to dealers? The vendors at this show sell to distributors/dealers and that should be made aware to a “public”. Seeing the latest and greatest helps drive awareness of these products and only helps us sell.
    Just as BIGITCH stated about the other shows and conventions out there, I find it amazing that even people that may not be buyers, have knowledge of products at these shows that comes up in conversations, which COULD translate to sales for another person listening in. Don’t hesitate to take any avenue to promote a product!

    The bottom line, is they listened to what we/exhibitors asked for and confirmed it with the dealers. And “Insider” before you leap to conclusions that are obviously VERY wrong, read. When you add up the new show hours for 2013, they are the exact same as previous years, just more effective. I love it.

    And of course, Easyriders will still rent the convention center on Monday. We will enjoy the Drag Specialties Super Bowl party Sunday night, then tear down on Monday. Thank you Easyriders!

    1 day open to the public seems like it would have benefits like Fredp mentioned — Stoke the interest and s.

    Anyone care to share their reasons for not having 1 day open to the public? Admission fees alone could be worthwhile.

    In the height of the TV chopper craze there were many more people walking the floor at the Expo. You’d have a group of 6-8 guys walk into your booth asking questions, all of them wearing chopper this chopper that shirts. As a vendor you had to determine which guy owned the shop and which ones were his buddies. Of course the group was into motorcycles and all of them were potential customers. But only one of them was there to do business. The rest were there to collect stickers, free tshirts and try to swing a free part if they could. I get it believe me. I use to be on the outside looking in. I’ve worked in this industry going on 9 years now and I still feel like one of the new kids. Next year will be the 10th Vtwin expo I’ve worked.
    Every industry has industry only trade shows. This just happens to be one of those fun ones that the public wants to get into, much like SEMA. As a vendor you work the Vtwin expo for a few reasons. The big one is to educate you dealers and sales reps. You want to give them the tools to have a successful business and increase sales for the both of you. Plain and simple.
    For those of us who work in this industry we should count ourselves blessed that our industry is cool enough that the public wants a closer look.
    Before motorcycles I use to work in radio communications climbing and rigging radio towers. While doing that I attended an industry only trade show in Vegas. It was a real sleeper and I dont think the general public was beating down the doors to get in. I’m sure dental hygienists see much of the same.
    Most of the vendors that work the vtwin expo do many public show through out the year. Daytona, Myrtle Beach, Panama City Beach, Laconia, Sturgis just to name a few. So I don’t think there is any shame in keeping the Vtwin show closed to the public.
    And I for one think it would be cool if we had a handshake. I’m going to work on that for next year.

    Well this is interesting news. Without the wasted 1/2 day on Monday there is definately more bang for the buck as an exhibitor and one less travel day.. I think it may be time for B’COOL Products to have a booth again.

    Good news on the hours, the lobby was always full waiting for the doors to open. I would not waste my time going if the public were allowed in, I spend enough of my 16 hour day answering pointless questions and educating ape hanger bagger riding 30″ do-it yourselfers, sorry for the rant, 18 hour day.

    Joe Mielke is right on the money
    A dealer show should be exactly that “a Dealer Show”
    Joe Public would create chaos in an already crowded situation
    whne you’ve got both other dealers, shop owners and the press all trying to get infomation at once.
    All of the mags are there & they do a damn fine job getting the word out to the public
    of the latest and greatest.
    (Just a word from living in Cincinnati, if you think All of those guys at the show are dealers
    and/or shop guys, you’ve got another thing coming…
    More than a few are just guys who sneak in on fake creditials, know somebody or just plain
    sneak in ….)

    Black Max. I agree that a high percentage are non professionals visiting the trade show. 20%? I am certain EZ will not fight this because it helps fills the space…Crowded is not exactly the word.
