Learning Motorcycle Sheet Metal Fabrication With Bryan Fuller

If you are in Sturgis and do some work on your bike yourself, stop by the the Fuller Hot Rods booth between 4th & 5th street on Lazelle. Not only will you admire his new Cafe Racer style creation (I will feature it soon in my Blog and you can also see it in the next 4 episodes of the TV Show “Cafe Racer”), but Bryan will also autograph for you his new book “Full-Bore Sheet Metal” co-written with Mark Prosser. I bet you will learn quite a few fabrication tricks. Or order his book online at.

Lots of examples of tool use in the animal kingdom exist.
But of those, only the Human does it for the sheer “Joy of Creating.”

If you’ve not created and bolted onto to your scooter even the most simple little do-dad, you’ve missed “The Point” completely.

Don’t miss the Fuller link, watch the clips, it could save ya……… 🙂

His show is a “connector” for the home build hands on population.
Some times, you know, watching a little OCC at lunch will help launch me back into the shop (and if necessary, force- myself a PB&J before they start hollering at each other).

It helps to see someone use the tools we’ve heard about.

It’s sad to talk to people who walk up and ask me about my black 1957 V-Twin® Panhead. Most of them have owned a Pan or have been exposed to potato-potato enough that’s it’s encoded into their DNA.
They want one bad. I tell them mine is pure Taiwan except for the motor, trans, seat and fuel tanks. They usually say,”I paid “$800. for mine in 1971” or ….. “but I sold mine”.
To say that these folks “glomb” onto me and the machine, is not fair, because they aren’t trying to be a nuisance, they’ve just had something awakened in them and they have the itch to get another one ……… bad.
So somewhere, in the middle of the night, of a long range plan to get rid of non-compliant Harleys and anything that spewed fumes we got axed. Believe me, there’s plenty of other California polluters, far worse than some weekend riders having fun and we all know it.
We let them kill our small society of tinkerer’s and a vital section of “idea exchanging” and by golly, mankind in California is suffering from it. I can see it right in front of my face. There’s not many 1957 Panhead rolling around in California anymore. People freak out too much for my liking.
I keep 10 gallons of Marvel Mystery’d 91 octane in the shop, it keeps me out of filling stations. A fellow almost got smacked by an incoming car last month, when I stopped at Chevron to top off. Walked right out into the service lane and forced a lady to squawk to a halt. Sheese!! Chewed the sheets one night over it.
