Cris Sommers Simmons. The Only American Woman Ready To Endure The Cannonball Challenge.

After 9 months of hard work with the help of ace Antique Motorcycle Restorer Steve Huntzinger (just won a bunch of awards at the Pebble Beach Concours) and after some intense physical training to endure the 3325 miles of the Challenge between US east and west coast, and her 1915 Harley-Davidson 11J Twin 3 speed will be on September 10th on the starting line of the Cannonbal Edurance Run.

Front of her husband Pat, see her kicking her bike named “Effie” for the 1st time before going to practice her foot clutch/hand shifting. (For good luck she will have a Gumby figurine on the bike, like on all her motorcycles for the past 25 years.)

Why doesnt she have period tires on the bike …… I sure they make repros that are of a high enough quality to use?

Huntzinger is top of the line and his bikes are outstanding both cosmetically and mechanically. Enjoy the times, Riding vintage bikes are a very cool experience. Enjoy.

Nice bike, but — what about that sweet old Linde “Heliarc” welding (TIG) machine shown just to the left of the bike. . . 1960 vintage? Not as old as the bike, but it’s been some time since I have seen one of those machines.
