Bill Davidson has been named vice president of Harley-Davidson Museum and factory tours. He was previously vice president in core customer marketing for the motor company. The museum’s current leader, Stacey Watson, is going to leading marketing for all Harley-Davidson customer segments across North America. She helped open the museum in July 2008. Bill Davidson is the great-grandson of Harley-Davidson Motor Company co-founder, William A. Davidson – Bruce Rossmeyer’s Daytona Harley-Davidson has officially been “Sucker Punched”. The world’s largest Harley-Davidson dealership has partnered with the Old School bike builder Sucker Punch Sally’s to distribute its models. The line up is featured on the second floor showroom of Daytona Harley-Davidson in Ormond Beach, Florida.
Production at the Harley Davidson plant in York County is temporarily stopped, as the company investigates a problem. The problem is linked to a chemical in the painting process. It stems from a chemical called Benzene. It has been linked to cancer and last Wednesday, one of Harley’s paint suppliers told the company it could be in the paint they use. Now, production is halted as the company figures out what to do next. Benzene is a colorless and highly flammable liquid widely used in the United States. It is found in emissions from gasoline to coal. Initially inhaling it causes drowsiness and headaches, however prolonged exposure at work has been known to cause leukemia. Similar tests were done in the plant in Kansas City and that is also being shut down – Bruce Rossmeyer Daytona Racing is entering the new AMA Pro Racing Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson XR-1200 series. The entry marks the return of Bruce Rossmeyer Daytona Racing to AMA Pro Road Racing competition since the closing of Buell –

Doesn’t look like a promotion for Bill Davidson. from consumers marketing to museum director?

When a company thrives it is common for ” Anomalies ” to rear their ugly heads. Placing people in key positions as gestures or as favors only cripples a company. No place for politics.

I don’t know how efficient or knowledgeable William Davidson is / was in the company but when a business falters regardless if it be good or bad times change is necessary. Just recently two Key people left the company silently and now there are some adjustments being made with board members.

There will be annual election of directors. Eliminating the Company’s classified board structure,
    ” with staggered three-year terms ”

As time evolves I’m not so sure that the company president has to have his head wrapped around a motorcycle to be efficient.

It is a business and not a week end hobby for him and placing key people where needed by eliminating / restructuring positions that are not effective.

Any time Family is involved beware. Been there.

Perhaps the MoCo would have been better off if they had retained a few Harleys. After all, it was William Harley who designed the OHV Knucklehead engine that has inspired every Big Twin since. Mere inspiration doesn’t appear to have been enough in the case of the Twin Cam, however.
In any case, I agree, this doesn’t seem to be a promotion for Bill Davidson.
