Paughco Old School Rear Fenders

paughcorearfender3As you know, everything old is new again. I know you threw away these fenders 25 years ago because they were looking too stock! Or you are too young to have had a chance to keep a spare set in your garage. So, Paughco is manufacturing again these old style Bobbed fenders right here in the good old US (Nevada to be precise). They come pre-cut with that early style rounded design for an unmistakable Bobbed appearance. They are a simple bolt-on solution for Paughco Bobber frames and fit early OEM springers with brackets repositioned for correct clearance.  Chain guard provision on left strut. A matching front fender is available. Rear Fender: $157.95. Front Fender $ 152.95. At .

Nice to see again. The rear fender has the OE style chain guard bracket.

If you want real looking half-moon black or parkerized footboards, with black painted rivets around the rubber mats, you can only find them through Kick-Start M/C Parts. (616) 245-8991 [10-5 EST].

They also have black painted 8″ Glide headlights.

It will be interesting to see V-Twins® 2010 catalog. I usually get mine in December.
I wonder why Paughco has tooled up these fenders?

I bet their going to sell a pre-fit, 48 state kit. Ya think?

I’m surprised that Kirk has no question about making replica 1936-1964 3.5 gallon tanks or some reference to smoking pot.

On a side note…this looks like a nice fender. Is it made in the USA or just packaged there?

And the lesson for you boys and girls is: don’t scrap your old tooling, just stick in in a box with a “open in 25 years” label on it.

“I’m surprised that Kirk has no question about making replica 1936-1964 3.5 gallon tanks ”

    Ou contrare mon fer…. 🙂

I was ed earlier today by a [(7) or more tank versions] mfgr. who would like to keep his craftsmen busy in the shop this coming season. Like elves with tats and stamp tank sides, weld them, align the top and bottom shut-off rod holes and sell them to Tedd as a loss leader or ebay for 650 bucks a piece. Whaddaythink?
If any of you AMCA buzzards will part with one of your worst condition ’51-53 or ’54 tanks, I will introduce you to the mfgr. (victim) and you guys can work it out. Just make sure the mfgr. will not add his “cute” touches to history. I told him the public would lynch him for any “custom” detailing crap. OEM replica or nothing. I told him I would introduce him to Ted’s “handler” so to speak, but that’s a prototype away and a deceiving distance away too.

Trust me Lerz … I’m doing my best to discourage him, and have twice insulted him by his random comparison of the task using a 70’s tank in his shop (a top venting modern (Shovel) design as an example.
I politely asked him to get his mitts on a set of footshift ’51-53 OEM tanks, or ’54 (w/ non underbar) tanks asap – and then get back to me.
All of the bungs for the tanks are already available. And…”ALL” 🙂 he has to do… is stamp an OEM believable, bottom contour line that hangs over the Knuckle & Pan rocker covers (viewed from left side at an eyeline, level with the bottom 1/3 of the tank. Sweet.
That’s all the advertising the tank needs, (although “ad-work” ideas are more of Cyril’s line of thinking.

Amazon is letting me advertise my intentions of their future drop-shipment of our (7) item clothing designs and I never even asked them. They know me and trust my plan so far. You can read it on a slam of Hi-Tecs® Nevis V-Lite waterproof ankle-slash “Mid” (a rocker clutch boot design)
About the MJ, I’m glad you brought that up. Here’s an update: I read in the Dago MJ monthly mag on Sat, that “Holy Water has been discovered, translated from yiddish script, that it contained about 30 grams of cannabis. They listed all the elements of Holy Water and found myrr and some other good stuff, but MJ resin was of proportionally greater quantity. Google it yourself.

And lastly, thank you, I’m here to testify that with one tiny breath of medical grade “Blue Dream” (Indica)…. brother, you-are-medicated. 🙂

Rivets are back as an M/C art form. Every M/C builder should learn how to “factory rivet”. The best rivet tools are aircraft quality.
You can sometimes find re-conditioned air-riveters from our friends at U.S. Air Tool (USATCO) (310) 323-1953 (L.A.).
I’ve found that for 1936-1964 OHV, a 3/16″ rivet set is correct for foot (clutch) lever pins. The kit consists of a #39X Rivet Gun, #07-10-4354 (concave cup) rivet set that’s 3/16 cupped and 3-1/2″ long x 0.401 diameter cup.
    A #07-10-638 that has an 1/8″ cup x 3-1/2 long x 0.401 for rear wheel sprocket rivets.
And a #08-638 Bucking (backing, or upset) bar. This rivet gun and backing bar can pound the tail of the rivet into a uniform solid metal “barrel”, by people that know what they’re doing. USATCO did a few sprocket rivets on a ’65-up rear drum, to show me how “it’s done”. Blew me away, because all this riveting takes place with about 2 rat-a-tats from the gun. Any more and you start deforming the top of the rivet.
Being good with a rivet gun will allow you to make seemingly OEM factory rivets anywhere you want on the fender braces.
The tank manuf. guy who wants to make the new 3.5 tanks told me he has Nace P. the original CCI tank guy as his adviser.
    Sounds good.

Next on my list is an mens M/C fashion gunfight with Jesse James entire line of junk clothes against the magnificent 7 pieces I’ve already created.
This is not going to be your basic runway show, where models come out turn and walk back.
No my friends…… in this runway duel we will have a JJ model and a VT model walk out on the runway together. The judge will hold his hand up above one model and then the other. There will be an applause meter that will register boos and happy clapping 🙂 for each of the clothing articles JJ and I pit against each other.
Vintage Twin will tromp any rag JJ’s “people” can come up with. It’s for sure JJ doesn’t design any of the clothes himself.
So prepare yourself JJ, I’m gunning for you. I will knock you off your Wal-Mart® perch.

And a final word on the new 3.5 tanks. First off, no one person has the guts to make them indistinguishable from the original, so let’s don’t get too excited about the prospect.

Go to V-Twin® and ask them for the bungs at dealer. Ask them if they are going to cut your throat down the line and make their own replica 3.5’s. They’re your only competition.
Don’t be afraid to go public with your plans and the process. (Yes, we’ll get you 30 min. on cable about the process. Not to worry.)
You’re allowed to go public with your plans because the tanks are 1936-1964 3.5 gallon.
[If this were an “ocean surfing industry community” project, (4) mfgrs. would have already ripped off your idea.]
No one in the M/C industry is allowed to rip off another 1936-1964 OHV craftsman’s idea. If V-Twin® gives you the go ahead, the idea was yours, because you’ve gone public with it now. Anyone else like Japan or Dubai or Italy or France or China or Taiwan that tries to “cut you” will be ignored and publicly ridiculed forever as a thief on ebay.
It’s all yours, as long as you follow V-Twins® lead they’ve established creating their knuckle lower valve spring covers. Works of stamp-art they are…. one right after another, after another…. 🙂 You’ll own, at least to begin with, 1951-1954.
